Breaking News

I'm sick! Stop the presses! Alert the media! It's a breaking story! No, seriously, this happens like once every blue moon. I woke up this morning feeling TERRIBLE! But I've gotten better as the day has gone on. I hope I'm feeling better by tomorrow night. I've got a Christmas party I want to go to. And yes, I know I ended that sentence with a preposition.
I can't believe there are only nine days till Christmas. It seems like I've been waiting forever, but looking back now, it hasn't been that long at all. The days should fly from here on. Friday, I go to my girlfriend's school's Christmas program; Saturday, we're going to see my grandparents; Sunday, my sister has a Christmas program at church; Monday, I get to see my uncle and meet my future aunt; next Wednesday is my one year anniversary with my girlfriend (man! Time has flown!) Hey, come on, it just wouldn't be Christmas if I wasn't so busy that I thought I was gonna go crazy. My prayer has been, though, that I would keep a clear focus on why we celebrate Christmas in the first place.

Letters

Dearest readers,
I am so sorry that I haven't posted lately, neglecting to inform you all and keep you all updated on every single little intimate detail of my life. You really need to know these things, and I've deprived you of them. Forgive me.
Cody

Dear blog,
I have neglected you. I have squandered my internet time on other things rather than sharpening my journalism skills by writing entries in you. I haven't visited you, and you've grown lonely, as people have probably stopped checking to see if you've been updated. I'm very sorry, and I will try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Dear X-men movies,
I have forgotten you as well. I have left your emotional intensity, your moral prominence, your deep story for the morally deficient, emotionally neutral(except Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace), simple-storied (again, except Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace) James Bond. As cool as those movies are (especially Casino Royale-haha) you are much better for me as a person, especially as a Christian. But since I am watching you as I type this, I think I am on my way to recovery.

In other news, I have been busy getting ready for Christmas. But to tell the truth, I am kind of sick of the commercialism surrounding it. People want to take a Christian holiday and take the Christian element out of it. The whole point of a holiday is to celebrate or commemorate something. Without the Christ in CHRISTmas, what exactly are we celebrating again? I forgot. Or was it never specified.......

Long week.

A long week, it has been. Tired, I am. I feel like watching will die if I don't get a fix of Star Wars. Can you tell? My best friend got married Saturday. Congrats, Sam! Love ya! Today, I got a new piano book. A Charlie Brown Christmas. Then we went to Macy's. I forgot how much I don't like shopping all day. Boring! Then we went to Cracker Barrel to meet an old friend of my parents. I have eaten way too much today! I know, you didn't know that was possible...
It is cold today! I love it! I've been waiting for it to feel like this since fall started. I can't believe Christmas is already so close! The year has flown by. The mall had Christmas "holiday" decorations EVERYWHERE. It was crazy. No Nativities at all though. At least, I didn't see any. I'm kinda bothered by absolutely irritated by the fact that it's become what it has. We can't share our faith in public, but they're gonna commercialize OUR holiday ("Holy day") and make it what they wanna make it. For a holiday, you have to be celebrating or commemorating something. What are they celebrating? Ok......I'll get off my soapbox now......

What a week!

Hello, all. I think I should apologize to my readers (all both of you) for not updating recently. I've actually  been forgetting I even have a blog! And if I don't get something on here when I'm thinking about it, I forget everything I wanted to say, so this won't be some huge update or anything. Brock and I watched G. I. Joe the other night. It seemed kinda like a cross between dorky kids movie and cool action movie. Like they couldn't decide which one to make it, so they did both. Personally, I'd have made the story a little darker and more realistic. I mean, come on, was the Cobra Commander's backstory really that believable? No. And some of his dialogue was terrible. But, I enjoyed the movie nonetheless. And I think that girl who played Scarlett could play Scarlett O'Hara in a remake of Gone with the Wind. She looks just like her, just color the hair and........... just sayin!

Random note: For some reason, I find myself really wanting to see Quantum of Solace again.

Last night

Yesterday was my girlfriend's birthday! Happy birthday, Wendy!! I had a lot I wanted to update with but I've forgotten almost all of it. Haha. Life is cruel. But I do remember that we got stuck in the mud last night. Fun. It eventually took five teenagers pushing while mom mashed the gas pedal to get it out!

Weekend Update

I did not post a blog entry yesterday. I am not sorry. So there. I was having a blast at my girlfriend's house watching The Master of Disguise and Fun with Dick and Jane. Both were pretty funny, although kinda stupid. No offense Jim Carrey fans, but that guy really gets on my nerves. I don't see what's so funny about a guy making weird noises, dancing around, and acting like he has a mental disorder.
Harvest fest was last night at church. It was great. Way better than some dumb Halloween party or trick-or-treating. I was working the games most of the night. I got kinda worn out setting up bottles and bowling pins for kids to try to knock down and then chasing the ball across the parking lot whenever they missed. My legs are sore today. Of course, it could also be because of the trampoline/bungee cord thing. Or maybe the inflatable slide. Probably all three. But the last thing was the best. Hayride! It was great. The whole youth group (well, the ones that were there) got on together and it was awesome! It was pretty cold, though. For a while my fingers were so cold I couldn't feel them.
Today I am working on my application to Ole Miss. This week I gotta get my transcript finished. Everything is really kinda falling together.

Swimming in October

That's right. It's getting cold outside and I am gonna be swimming tonight. My sister's birthday party is tonight, and she'll be having an indoor pool party at a hotel. It'll be cool. Almost just as cool is that after the party the guys (my dad, brother, and me) will have the house to ourselves cuz the girls are stayin at the hotel. I still find it hard to believe that my little sister is nine years old. I still remember the day she was born.

Totally off-subject thought. How is it that of all places in the house, everyone's junk ends up under MY bed?
